Mimog

There was once a tradition of handing out an award to the person who met their end in the most foolish way. The first award was given for "being unaware of Mimog, opening the chest, and being bitten to death."

While fighting together, Mimog can open treasure chests without using a key.

Habitat

Mimog can be found lying still in its dormant state, mimicking a Treasure Chest, ignoring any players or other Pals around them. When attacked, it goes into its active state and attempts to run away. Its high speed makes it almost impossible to catch on foot or even while riding a Pal, so using walls or a is recommended when hunting one. Mimog can be found in most places throughout the Palpagos Islands, spawning in place of Treasure Chests. The only places where they can't appear are lower level areas like the Windswept Hills or Forgotten Island, the Wildlife Sanctuaries, the small Isles, and the Oil Rigs, the Mushroom Wetlands on Sakurajima.

Overview

Mimog (Japanese: ミミドッグ Mimidog) is a Neutral-element Pal. Mimog closely resembles the Treasure Chests seen throughout the Palpagos Islands, though with visually-distinctive markings, a slightly more rounded shape, and a pair of ear-like protrusions on top of it. When active, Mimog's lid slightly opens to reveal a "face" consisting of two bright blue eyes and a long tongue. It also possesses four short legs that are only seen in its active state.
